With a deep-rooted passion for dancehall music that began in childhood, heavily influenced by my Jamaican-born mother, I’ve been moving to these infectious rhythms for as long as I can remember. My background in performing arts, primarily in acting, took a vibrant turn when I won a dancehall competition in Montego Bay, Jamaica, in 2010. That experience inspired me to start teaching dancehall and twerk classes, which I called “Empower Whine,” in Camden to support myself through university.
In between dancing, I run my own drama education business, DramEd, write children’s books, and am currently publishing an interactive journal called The Friendship Journal for adults. While I’ve taken a break from teaching dance to focus on these creative endeavors, my love for dance remains strong. Now based in Swindon, I continue to explore different dance styles like pole, heels, and commercial. I’m excited to return to teaching dancehall and soca—styles that truly build confidence, and celebrates individuality, Let’s lose all inhibitions together and let the rhythm of the music take control!
