Today is the start of the October Intensive for our Swindon Contemporary Programme. Dancers will be working guest teachers Freya Harris (of Tavaziva), Thomas Page (Artistic Director of Thomas Page Dances) and Richard Chappell (Artistic Director of Richard Chappell Dance).
Freya Harris is a freelance dance artist and a recent graduate from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Alongside studying at Laban, Freya was part of the BalletBoyz Dancers Course working with artists including Anna Watkins, Jason Mabana, Kerry Nichols, Joss Arnott Dance and others. Freya now dances with Tavaziva dance and has recently toured with the company.
Thomas Page is a contemporary dance artist from Oxford and the Artistic Director of Thomas Page Dances (TPD). During their final year of training at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Thomas became a FreeSpace Artist of Studio Wayne McGregor. Thomas was also nominated by Laban to be part of The Place’s Open Borders Project 2019. Thomas is currently an Associate Artist of The Old Fire Station Theatre, SPARK Artist in Residence at The Pegasus Theatre and is has recently joined the Associate Artist Programme at Swindon Dance.
Richard Chappell is an internationally renowned choreographer. Since 2013, Richard has lead his own ensemble Richard Chappell Dance. The ensemble has provided a platform for his choreographic research and performance work. Richard is currently a commissioned artist for Swindon Dance and Associate Artist at Exeter Northcott. Prior to this, Richard was a Resident Artist for Dance in Devon and Discovery Artist at Pavilion Dance South West. Richard’s creative processes are rooted in collaboration, co-authorship and emotional connectivity.
