Announcing new project for 2010
December 2009
Swindon Dance is delighted to announce a ground-breaking new project led by Jeanefer Jean Charles, one of the UK's leading choreographers. It's called Lads & Dads Move! and offers the chance for dance artists and youth leaders to work with Jeanefer in 2010.
The project, created by Jeanefer, explores the disengagement of boys and young men from society. It's a movement project that focuses on relationships between young men and their older role models, including their fathers, uncles and older brothers, and youth leaders and male dance artists.
Jeanefer has been researching and developing Lads & Dads Move! for two years and she approached us following the 2008 tour of her work It's a Boy.
Working in partnership with Wiltshire Dancing, SPLASH Wiltshire and Wiltshire Young Peoples' Support Service, we will host a training day for dance artists and youth leaders who will work alongside Jeanefer on a week-long residency with young men at risk, excluded from schools and disengaged from society.
More information to come in the new year.
