At Swindon Dance, we run programmes designed to support choreographers making work in a range of camerawork-related contexts, including dance video in live performance and on screen.
Our programmes have been devised by the
artist professional development team, who continue to provide opportunities taylor-made for choreographers using the camera.

DANCE ROUGH CUTS
Up to five choreographers/videomakers are selected to screen works in progress, first edits or edited work for feedback from Peter Anderson at an event attended by other artists. ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

PETER ANDERSON
Swindon Dance artist in residence, Peter Anderson, is a television director, filmmaker and visual artist working in dance and theatre.
Peter has contributed to the Swindon Dance programme for choreographers and the camera since its inception in 2003. He is currently a Swindon Dance
associate artist. The photo shows Peter working during our
Easter Recess 2007 : Dance and Video in Live Performance (photo: Mark Pepperall).
His teaching experience includes many art and design degree courses in the UK, five years at the Slade School of Art and 20 years as a visiting lecturer, MA film and TV design course, Kingston University, where he is a research fellow. He has led dance for camera workshops for professional choreographers, filmmakers and composers in the UK and Europe.
Movement and dance on screen have been central to his work for over 20 years. This is highlighted by his acclaimed short film Boy (1995), followed by Greenman (1998) and Infanta (2000). All were created in collaboration with choreographer Rosemary Lee for broadcast on BBC2.
In 2001, as a sequel to Boy, they made Brink with performer Tom Evans, which was commissioned by Swindon Dance. It was made for a programme of film and dance at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London. Also in 2001, Peter and Rosemary made Dancing Nation, a documentary funded by the Millennium Commission for the UK Foundation for Community Dance.
